REVIEWSDAY TUESDAY: The Stephanie Perkins Trifecta
Genre: Young Adult, Romance, Coming-of-age
These three books: Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, and Isla and the Happily Ever After are three wonderful- and truly romantic- young adult stories. The author is a nerdfighter (read: fan of John Green and Hank Green’s video blogs) and I first heard of Anna (her first book) in this video that John made. It’s seriously one of my favorite books.
I just recently read Isla, her most recent novel, and I relate to the main character quite a bit. She feels like a blank slate as to what she wants her future to look like and she lets her insecurities get the best of her at times, which is basically exactly who I was in high school. It made me smile and made me tear up and I absolutely devoured it.
Also, I love that Stephanie’s characters (in a similar but more obvious way than Sarah Dessen’s characters) overlap in their stories, so with each novel we get to see the continuation of previous characters’ lives. But you don’t have to have read Anna to enjoy Lola, or Isla.
